Encephalartos woodii on craigslist

The problem is not if it's a woodii but rather does it have any roots. Since it looks to be in pure pumice or perlite, that means that it may not be fully established. Woodii tend to die when being established since they flush leaves out too soon. They are only worth buying if they are rooted out and on a second flush of leaves. But, unless that woodii is 18" or larger I think it's way over priced. Most I've seen for one was $1,000 per inch but that was from a high priced nursery.

I have never once scene a woodii sell at a low price of $1000 per inch. They've always been well over that price which is why I have ZERO growing in my garden.

Hmmmmmm .... and two suckers were removed from the trunk of E. woodii at Fairchild awhile back while the Aroid show was going on. Ah, just must be a coincidence.

Woodii offsets are real hard to establish. They must flush three times before you can safely say it is home free and worth the risk. That plant should sell for at most $3000.00 since it has a 75% chance of croaking.
