The Arctic Oscillation is forecast to stay very positive through at least Dec. 15. With the 2 week delay, that means there will be no sustained blocking high pressure over Greenland. That in turn means no sustained cold in the eastern US through at least the 3rd week of December.
And...that's music to my ears!!! We could use a warm winter, I'm getting ready to start potting up ALOT of palms. I want to make the 14th Annual Spring Extravaganza Sale the best ever! Right Tom?

I took a look at forcasts for North America this winter and came up with this map on neoweather.com. If this is the way it goest things do not look too bad for the southeast US palm areas. It does look bad for the northern plains where my parents live. And, if possible I hope to get there in the winter, as I can not make it before.
So far knock on wood, the display above has been right on. It has been a very easy winter so far. We have had 12 inches of needed rain since December 1 and only 6 nights with freezing temps. Our lowest has been 26F. We have yet to have a daytime high temp below 40F. Firespikes, Justicia, Sophora, and Cercis are already blooming.
