Its weird, but no complaints here. Gives stuff in my yard another year to get a little more size before having to deal with it next year. All in all the growing conditions here in Oceanside have been great all year. Warm and sunny all summer with only one day of 95 plus weather.

There have been occasions of light santa ana winds this month mostly over mountain passes and in canyons. Later in the week, offshore winds will materialize but I haven't read any reports suggesting strong winds. The fire season has been subdued at bit so far. I like the warm nights that occur during santa ana conditions but plants dehydrate so fast that irrigation becomes critical.

Fairly windy this morning w/ wind advisories in usual wind-prone areas [Santa Clarita & San Fernando valleys, Santa Monica & Santa Ana mountains]. Also very low dewpoints\ humidity. This santa ana wind event has ushered in very chilly air out of the inter-mountain West w/ near-freezing minimums in calm upper valleys, high desert while windy areas remained in the 60's overnight. Should stay windy for another day then calm-down into the weekend w/ lots of sunshine & warm temps. Next week could be a repeat.

May get to 45-47 at my place Friday night..

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

What's great about Fall so far is that there have not been any significant fires. What hurricanes are to Florida, wildfires are California's disaster. Dew points have been quite low & a moderate santa ana may occur in a few days. But the soil water content is fairly moist considering the time of year. The storms earlier this month really helped. USDA 11 zones were quite warm overnight: 70's Malibu, Westwood, San Rafael Hills, etc. Big cool down as troughs move ashore over the Pacific NW all week. It would be nice if southern California gets in on the rainfall.
