It has been a while since I last posted here.......perhaps as long ago as my trip to Saudi Arabia.
I am now (on project) working here in SG for a while and its obvious I need to visit SG Botannical Gardens, but is there any other "must see" gardens, etc here?
This place is truly a marvel to see. I wish I woud have brought a palm guide book along.. I'm sure I can buy one (expensive here) but I think I can do with the internet.....
Thanks in advance.

Check out Gardens of the Bay when open – here’s info from their website.
http://www.gardensbythebay.org.sg
The Flower Dome is targeted for a special preview during the World Orchid Conference from 14 - 20 November 2011.
The official opening of the Phase 1 of the Gardens is scheduled in Jun 2012.
The construction of the Bay South Gardens is progressing on track with key infrastructure works such as drainage system and the main access roads and services completed. The works at the Conservatories have been completed and the focus is now on the interior works. Construction of the Supertrees' core, canopies and installation of the green skin have also progressed to various stages of completion.

Nice to hear from you again. and I know you're going to have a great time visiting the Singapore Botanical Gardens. And as you probably already know, it requires more than one day to really get to see and enjoy the place. The Singapore Zoo also has quite a few palms and Jurong Bird Park is also worth a visit. I understand the new "Gardens by the Bay" will open in November (next month) so I'm sure you want to check that out. See the Thailand Singapore thread in the IPS Biennials sub-forum. More info there.
Enjoy Singapore and I hope you will be able to post updates and photos here!
Aloha,

I'd be interested in hearing your comments and places that you have gone.
I have been reading up on Singapore and I'm working on a list of things to do.
Gardens by the Bay -
The Singapore Botanical Gardens.
Night Safari at the Zoo
Walking trail to 3 parks (I'd have to look up the info on this).

Yes, I have the Botannical Garden and Jurong Bird park on my "to do" list -
I had not heard about Gardens by the bay........I will look in to it.......Perhaps I can sneak in to the sneak preview in November......
My assignment is for "approximately" 4 months - but I may be here up to 8..... so plenty of time to take most of the island in........
I will definately post up some photographs........ I have only Sundays off so it may take a few weeks to get some images, but I will check back in......
I have to say that so far I am blown away with the care and time they give to the landscaping....... Even on Jurong Island ( where my project is) - which is a MASSIVE industrial complex - there are fine examples, including stands of C. Renda etc along the roads.....

A closer look reveals a much anticipated event. I think you guys have discussed this here before?

And nearby............ The lonely L. maldivica waiting for a friend...... sorry- I couldn't get much of a photograph of the palm itself. When I go back I will try to get a decent photograph......... I am guessing this picture will have you scratching your eyes out, if not your heads.................!

Great photo
