I wouldn't say I water the heck out of mine, but I am impressed by how fast mine is growing. I planted it from a 15 gal. On December 1st, 2015 and it hasn't missed a beat.

It occurred to me the other day that it seemed like the spear was moving really fast so I marked it. The gap is 24 hours worth.

Ive planted 1 in a high sandy loam bed  and its been in about a month and seems very happy, i just planted another smaller 1 in amended clay with alot of stone and scoria in the mix for drainag so ill see which 1 is quicker her in southern  Australia both are in all day full sun we are just coming into our summer so they should really kick off, also the smaller of the 2 is a supposed watermelon variety has anyone seen this yet?? Or is it wishfull thinking?? Ive got 3 for different  sources  and there so different great palms imo

Update on mine the biggest 1 i planted in a raised bed with grey sand died slowly when i dug it up i found they grey sand turned to jelly when it was wet , i replanted another good sized plant there after heavily amending the soil with compost and course sand and it pulled itself under to soil and rotted all happened very quickly, so i wont be planting another 1 there, my little 1 that got planted into heavy clay is powering along and growing pretty quick so i know they dont like my raised sand bed ive got 1 more good sized double to plant out so it will be going out the front with the other 1,
