Date: Sunday, September 11th, 2011

Time: TBA

Location: 590 Rider Ridge Road, Scott’s Valley, CA.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are delighted to have an invitation to revisit one of the most beautiful gardens in the area. As you will remember, Ed and Janet’s large mountain property has wonderful panoramic views, including one of the Pacific Ocean. The garden is diverse, including many spectacular specimen palms, a state of the art vegetable garden, large orchard, protea area and many rare and unusual plants. The garden was not affected by the cold winter weather this year.

This will be a potluck, no alcohol, please. We will have our usual auction. Directions to their home are posted below.

Coming from Santa Clara Valley, take Highway 17 toward the Santa Cruz Mountains. You will drive past Los Gatos and up into the mountains past Lexington Reservoir to the summit. Continue on Highway 17 past the summit and down the mountain to Vinehill Road. (It is approximately 5 miles from Summit Rd to the Vinehill Road exit). Turn left at the Vinehill Road exit. (There is a separate left-turn lane in the middle of the road where you can sit and wait for an opening in the traffic before crossing.) After turning left on the exit road, drive a short distance and turn left on Vinehill Rd itself. Go down the hill 2 miles until you come to Jarvis Road (at the base of the hill). Turn left and follow Jarvis Road 2 miles up the hill. For the last 1/8 mile of this 2 miles, the road jogs to the right and then goes up a steep hill. Halfway up this hill, turn right on Rider Ridge Road (private road) and go ½ mile. We are at 590 Rider Ridge Road and are the house on the right with palm trees going up the driveway and a stone entry with gate. There will be many fruit trees behind a fence in the front yard.

In summary: take Highway 17 toward Santa Cruz. Turn left on Vinehill Rd. and go 2 miles. Turn left on Jarvis Road and go 2 miles. Turn right on Rider Ridge Road and go ½ mile. We are 590 on the right.
