Encephalartos heenanii 5" caudex

Recommended Posts

E. heenanii is a distinctive beautiful rare cycad. Loran Whitelock has an image of this cycad on the cover of his book "The Cycads" !

Very few cycads are more sought after than E. heenanii. Seed production is sporadic because they cone infrequently.

Click on this link for more info and pics of a mature plant; http://www.pacsoa.or...s/heenanii.html

The pics are of the plant for sale. It has a 5" caudex and a bad flush do to the lack of a summer last year.

It looks like the long leaf Heenanii form. Is it the long leaf form, or the short leaf form?

Randy is right. There's hardly a cycad that is more coveted and rarely available. And, they are never cheap. I thought I'd show a picture of one we had a ways back so people can easily see what a more mature one looks like. Note the "basket shape" to the crown of leaves, a hallmark of heenani. Randy is lucky to have this for sale, so jump on it if you have the resources.

This cycad was imported from Africa by the Steinburgs a few years ago.

Thanks for looking
