Announcing the Northern California Palm Society Banquet:

Make reservations now for the Palm Society Banquet! Seats are limited. The location is the Lake Chalet restaurant, 1521 Lakeside Drive, Oakland. Time is from 12:00 to 3:00 on Sunday, March 27th. The final deadline is Wednesday, March 22nd.

RSVP by sending an email confirmation to keith_jaeger@hotmail.com The luncheon cost is $52 per person ($64 if wine is to be included with the meal). Other drinks are pay as you go. See below for the menu selections and payment methods. Include this information in your email to Keith.

You are the Program: Remember also that each person/household is asked to submit the following information to Keith when you RSVP: 1. The location of your palm garden along with its USDA and Sunset climate zones. 2. A picture representing a "success" you are proud of in your garden, along with a very brief description. It could be a specific palm or type of palm grown, or a specific technique you use in your garden. 3. A picture representing a "challenge" you have faced in your garden, along with a very brief description. Again, it could be specific uncooperative type of palm, weather, pests, neighbors, pets, spouses etc.

Keith will take the pictures and descriptions and put together a presentation. Each person will speak for a minute or two on their "successes" and "challenges".

Don’t worry if you are new, live in an apartment or haven’t developed a garden yet. Come anyway. If you are new we would like to meet you. We all learn a lot from each other’s experiences.

For those of us who have been shy about participating in the Palm Talk chat web site, Glen Harris will be giving a demonstration about it..

The menu selections are:

Appetizer - Caesar Salad (Parmesan-Anchovy Dressing, Grated Parmigiano Reggiano) or

Clam Chowder (Manila clams, bacon, and oyster crackers)

Main Course - Roasted Salmon (Potato Purée, Sautéed Spinach, Lemon Vinaigrette) or Prime Flatiron Steak and Potato Purée (Herbs de Provence Marinated, Sautéed Spinach) or Pan Tossed Herb Gnocchi (Roasted Butternut Squash, Brussels Sprouts, Balsamic Brown Butter Pan Sauce)

Dessert - Chocolate Molten Cake (Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Felchlin Bitter Sweet Chocolate Crème Anglaise, Caramel Sauce) or Creme Bruleé (Mexican Wedding Cookies)

The payment options are:

or through the website http://ncpsbanquet2011.eventbrite.com . There is a fee charged by the web service for the convenience of online credit card booking. The fee is $3.85 fee for a $52 ticket ( 3 courses with no wine) and a $4.51 fee for a $64 ticket (3 courses with wine).
