I have never heard of it. Have you tried Jeff Marcus? If these are legit I would bet the seeds either came from him or he has some. Keep us posted.

So where does the sp. "blue moon" fit into all this? I thought that the seed had come from the cultivated larger plant in the RPS link.

Marcus got back to me and told me what he sells as "Blue Moon" is the "Huelo Blue". He said it takes 10 years to see blue. This is great because it saves me the trouble of germinating - which I suck at.

Ron I will give you a buzz.

Is Marcus saying that blue moon and Huelo Island are the same palm? He sold them as seperate palms in 2005.

Jeff, what he told me a couple years ago is that the blue moon grew side by side with hillibrandii on Huelo island; that you could even see the different color palms from that great aerial photo on Hodel's supp. IPS journal. So I got a couple, even though I've always been a bit dubious that they'll turn into anything else other than hillibrandii. Until now, I'd never heard the term "huelo blue".

Bret,

If every palm I bought could be potted up into a "jello shooter" dixie cup then I'd probably think that to. But since I'm around such a superior grower in inlandpalms, I know to take Jeff's word for it!
