Once again I find myself with some extra plants and palms that I'm not gonna plant, so I've gotta get rid of some and make room. If you're in the SoCal area, give me a call and come on by, Matt (619) 206-7782

Here's the list with pics where applicable:

Paulownia tomentosa 1 gallon, $10 (I have several of these)

These will grow to 6' tall the first year, 15' tall the second year, and 30' tall the third year. If you want a fast shade tree, this is the fastest we can grow. It has huge tropical looking leaves too. For the firt two years the leaves will exceed 12" in diameter. The two trees you see here are 2 years old! I topped the left one to get it to branch. The right one just keeps growing up!

More of the Paulownia. Here's the flowers. I love this tree! If you cut it down to a foot or two after a couple of years it'll come back as a huge leaved shrub with leaves that are larger than Ficus dammaropsis!

Inga edulis, the Ice Cream Bean Tree, 1 gallon, $5

Great evergreen canopy tree. This is a palm growers dream. Beautiful red flush of new leaves and it makes a great spreading tree to grow your shade loving species under. Plus you can eat the fruit, it tastes sorta like sugar water. It's totally fun to break off this huge green/brown bean, hand it to someone and say, break it open and eat it! They're just like, "what are you serious?" It doesn't get too huge so it's good for a regular sized yard.

This is an extremely drought tolerant tree with silvery blue leaves and stems, and it flowers with thousands of bright yellow fuzzy balls. It's a small to medium sized tree, 15 to 20 feet tall. It needs no water once established!

Delonix regia, the Royal Poinciana Tree, 4" - 1 gallon, $5

If you live in a sweet microclimate and want to try the mother of all flowering trees, this is the one. When young, requires no irrigation water at all from November to May in San Diego. One established, needs no supplimental water, like a Jacaranda.

Roystonea regia, 5 gallon, full all day inland sun grown, $30

It might not be the prettiest palm right now, but you will not get any sunburn or acclimation burn when you plant this out. Plant this puppy in full sun and it's ready to rock. When I say all day I mean sunrise to sunset. You will not burn this palm.

If I snagged anyones pictures from the internet and you want me to remove them, please let me know. I was just doing google image search. I was trying to find random shots, so you could see what the plants look like, not from any nurseries or anything copyrighted.

Thanks.

I found a couple more I need to get rid of.

Orania palindan, 2 gallon, $10

Looks like a huge Howea with praemorse leaflets. Not sure if this will grow here in SoCal, I've never seen them offered at nurseries. Worth a try since they're supposedly the most cold tolerant of the Oranias.

This is the first year my Paulownia has flowered. It's only two years in the ground from a 1 gallon afterall. But it's pretty much in peak flowering right now so I snapped a shot from the balcony. Not the greatest picture but those purple flowers sitting atop the branches are very pretty. Next year should be a great show with more branch ends to pop flowers from. Just thought I'd share it. :)

Hey Ed,

I don't want to ship anything. Call Pious Palms, he was the seed supplier on these, and ask him where these went off to in your area. Someone bought all his stock so they're around your neck of the woods somewhere.
