If you think this is a strange looking queen palm...NO,it isn´t! I ´´luv´´ this palm: Mari-rosa (Syagrus macrocarpa) I saw it on photos, but photos do not justice to it ,I know now! The curls on the end od each leaflet.....:drool: :drool: :drool: You cannot imagine!!!!

My Copernicia alba is badly burned from the cold but should be fine. It's nice to see what it may return to one day.

Thanks for the pictures. The palms on the rocks are beautiful. Where is this area exactly? It looks like the area of Serra do Cipo. Many years ago when I lived in BH I used to go there from time to time. It is a beautiful area. I was not really noticing palms at the time though.

Some months of the year this place is a sea of white,purple ,red and yellow flowers of all kind of Vellozias. Now there were only a few flowering.

I thought that Diamantina could have been the area as well. The Jequitionha river area is a very beautiful place. A long time ago, 1975 to be exact I spent carnaval there camped by a stream by a village about 30 or 40 kms from Diamantina. I remember how beautiful all the wildflowers were mixed in with the cerrado vegetation. Minas Gerais has a lot of real great places. Thanks again for the pictures.

Actually, I bought a 1-leaf seedling S. glaucescens from Jeff Marcus about 6 or 7 years ago. It's probably large enough to plant at this point!

Alberto - the palm from the first stop is S. gouveiana.

My s.glaucescens that I have growing here is the size of the seedlings growing below this mother palm..
