I was disappointed on the origin of this palm tree. Hoping it to be a clear cut North Queensland native, it turns out there is nothing clear about it's origins, too little data to work from and the nuts float all over the place as we know.
Mike is the author of "The coconut odyssey : the bounteous possibilities of the tree of life", he has spent more than 40 years researching coconut industry in the Solomon Islands and the South Pacific. This publication "The Cococnut Odyssey" describes how the coconut has unique properties that provide for health, food and the environment.
He has even invented this cool device for splitting coconuts.

Due to 10 straight days of rain, Peter and Nadia's property is a quagmire and not suitable for walking around. As more rain is expected right thru to the weekend, Peter has asked that we cancel the event scheduled for Sunday Dec 12. We'll try to visit again next year. Apologies to everyone.
