It seems to be Dypsis fakey ambositrae sp.Sylvester Stallone.

I think it's a hybrid, no good in other words, give it away.

Steve, I definitely don't have that palm. Do you have some really early pics of the palm? I'd love to see what it was compared to what it is now.

Best regards

Tyrone

Tyrone, These are the two earliest pics I have of this palm. It was very colorfull at an early stage of life.

Steve, that's amazing! I'm gonna go on record and say I think it's Dypsis ambositrae.

Matty, I agree that it probably resembles Dypsis Ambositrae more than any other palm but will the real Ambositrae please stand up :hmm: . I have seen at least 3 differant palms labled as Ambositrae in various nurseries and gardens and some of them do not look like Jeff Searles pics from habitat. Also it is supposed to be a critically endangered palm yet I have been buying seed for $10 per 100 seed which seems really cheap for a palm that rare so what are they?

Stevo

Value, in business, is based solely on demand. Dan Andersen is adamant, that his D. sp. kindreo is the real ambositrae, Ed

The tones of red and burgandy were very intense and except for evicting a family of slugs and washing off a few leaves this is how it looked when the leafbase fell off  .

This is why I love Dypsis. Of the 42000 different Dypsids everyone seems to be growing out there, you just never know what they may do next or what they'll turn into.

I think that palm should be called Dypsis sp Transformer, or Dypsis sp Decepticon. :D

A wonderful palm that one. Keep an eye on it. It could do anything.

Best regards

From the moment I noticed two spears emerge simultaneously over a year ago I new my Dypsis mystery was going to split. The only problem is that it already had several rings of trunk  . This technically makes it a branching freak of nature! I have seen this on Lutescens and Baronii but not on a Dypsis this large. Has anyone else seen this on a large Dypsis :hmm: ? Well anyhows I've been patiently waiting for the leafbases to fall one by one to expose this crazyness and it finally happened. Actually one more has to drop to fully expose the two trunks but it is visible from one side now. I'm really going to miss that big fat white crownshaft. Heres a few pics of the freak show  .
