Height of Summer and it is hot. You need to be near the water. Here are a group of Royals that have the right idea:

Any way you can cool off!

Good looking royals. Is that a sheet wrapped around the second from right or something else? While these are obviously on the intracoastal, how do royals near the ocean handle the salt spray?

It isclear to me that this particular Royal has reefed its sail....

KJ, You are just trying to scramble our eggs!

Epic, Did a lunch drive around and no doubt Coconuts seem to predominate near the Ocean. That stated, I did see Royals within 100 yards of the Ocean. I went through some other Palm photos and found this group of Royals as close as Coconuts to the Beach:

Generally, however, you see Coconuts near the Ocean:

It is hard to find pictures that show the Ocean:

PictureNumerousPalmsandFoot108.jpg

Therefore, I would say Royals will grow close to the Ocean but the preference seems to plant Coconuts.

Bepah, That wrap was necessary to avoid Palm Beach Code Enforcement Liens. Believe it or not, there are several blemishes on that Royals trunk, which requires wraping per Palm Beach Code.

What kinda code do we have for "blemished palms"??? Wow, I'm gonna need lotsa wraps :lol: It looks like a covered statue or artwork. A lot of Palm Beachers go north for the summer season & cover outdoor stuff to prevent sun damage.

Hmmmm...I thought it was a drop cloth. Maybe they are getting ready to paint the trunks black. :interesting: (Black Royals)

TJ, If a blemish on a palm is a Code enfocement violation, then painting a beautiful Royal any color is:

John, I did not see the white covering when I took the picture. I am certain after looking at it again that it is covering something adjacent to the Royal.

I have seen the practice of painting various Palms white around their bases for the most part in the Carribean. My understanding is that it promotes heat control. I just am not sure.

The practice of of painting Royal trunks black is horrible and perhaps criminal behavior. True defacement.

Also, sorry for the fuzzy ocean picture I was trying to give Dewd. It looked really good and I can't figure out why it did not come through.

Love the Coco-de-Mer in a box. That's quite a high security system they have.

Well, bubba, that was entertaining, maybe you didn't mean to, but you made me laugh. The first pic of the royals is SO Florida. I like the lion in the jungle, too.
