Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum but have had an interest in palms for many years. My collection is pretty woeful at the moment but I'm hoping to change that! Many years ago I purchased a Johannesteijsmannia altifrons, Calamus erecta and Pinanga gracilis from the Palm Centre in London. All were healthy and reasonably priced and I was delighted. Sadly, inexperience led to all of them ultimately dieing but they gave me immense pleasure while they were alive.

I am now looking to expand my collection and recently revisited the Palm Centre website and was very disappointed to discover an extremely lacklustre indoor palm selection, with nothing particularly unusual or particularly inexpensive. So, does anyone know of suppliers of more unusual palms in this country, or who deliver here. Borneo Palms looks to be the best so far in terms of range/price, but I'd love to try a Joey again!

Thanks in advance guys and girls :)

HI Mark

Rhopalostylis sapida oceana (chatham Islands) is grown by a fellow on this forum in Ireland and likes cool summers as long as you dont go below -4c . Also try parajubea torallyi, jubaea chiliensis, all the Trachycarpus ,chamaerops, sabals are very tough but unlikely to suceed (very slow in Tasmania) as they require constant summer heat .

like me down in Tas you have to get very creative to expand your collection as people down here prefer roses and conifers etc . Try rarepalmseeds.com

cheers and welcome
