Koichi Inoue passed away on the fourteenth of March 2009. He will be remembered as the man that brought variegated Rhapis palms to the west. Leland Hollenberg was inspired by Koichi to produce ''The Miniature Palms of Japan'' and all of the pictures and cultural details came from him. He produced many plants during his lifetime the most famous being ''Eizannishiki''.
