Does it root along the ground where it creeps?

Hi Jude, no it doesn't even have tendrils, like a Grape vine, but it winds around stuff like a Boa Constrictor, Ed

Nice :) Is the "trunk" woody? By the looks of it, I bet it's old and gnarled, like an old grape or wisteria?

Hi Jude, No, it's several plants, 3 years old in March, or April, below 27 or so for any length of time kills it down to the roots, these germinated from seeds that have been in the ground over 4 years, Ed
