WANTED: Treasurer for the IPS

I regret to announce that Kathryn Ostadal has resigned as IPS Treasurer, and we are now in urgent need of someone to replace her in this very important position. Here's what the IPS By-laws says about the Treasurer position:

"Sec. 4 - The Treasurer shall receive, disburse, and have the care and custody of all funds and securities of the Society in such bank or banks as he may deem suitable, with approval of the Board of Directors. He shall sign, together with the co-signature of a Director, make and endorse in the name of the Society all checks and orders for the payment of money and shall maintain books of account of such receipts and disbursements, which shall be subject to the inspection of any Officer or Director at all reasonable times, and shall render annual reports to the members. He may hire a bookkeeper to maintain the required records. He shall have an audit of the books prepared, either by an independent accountant, or by two or more members every year."

Ideally, the Treasurer should be able to attend the IPS Board meetings. There's one IPS Board meeting every year, and the next one will be in Belize in mid March 2009. After that, the next one will be the day before the Biennial begins in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil (planned for mid April 2010).

For practical reasons, the Treasurer needs to reside in the USA, where the IPS has its bank accounts.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to get involved and make a difference. The term is two years, and would be until the Biennial in 2010, but the Treasurer can serve multiple terms if he or she so desires.

Anyone who may contemplate this is welcome to contact me via PM. If there are any questions, I'll be happy to answer them in this thread.
