Side Yard Renovation...

deezpalms

Recommended Posts

Here are some shots of my "nursery" part of my yard that I grow all my Floribunda stuff. I grow my palms here untill they get to a 15 gal. size then I move them out with the rest of my jungle. Hard to pick them all out from these angles but there are alot of the rarer Dypsis and New Caladonian palms in here along with other rare palms. Actinokentia divarcata, Alloschimdia glabarata, Dypsis tokoravina and D. fasciculata to name a few.

I removed all my palms a few weeks back and sprayed round up a couple of times to kill the massive weeds that built up. I then laywed down weed block and placed a bunch of brick to raise my palms up off the ground and to help raise the humidity back here.

Dave, are you gonna spread some mulch or pea gravel around?  If you don't the weeds might create an uneven walking surface that could start to puncture the fabric.  It looks like you used the grey stuff...that stuff is strong...I really like it best.  That's a nice spot for your containers.  You need a house dude!  You'll be landscape ready when you do.

Yard looks great Dave.It looks like you could open your own nursery.Matty B is right you need a house, you would have an instant jungle.Got to get over there to check it out still, maybe soon if I don't melt first.

deezpalms,

Any true palm nut would have that whole walkway filled LOL ;-)

Nice job though.  Every square inch must be put to use!

Keep growin...

Hey Jd ~ you should come down to my house and check out the rest of my stuff. That is only a very small section of of my collection. I use that area as a spot to raise my stuff I import from Hawaii before I throw it out with the rest of the herd. I've got alot more room here then my last place so it's nice. But if you saw the rest of my yard you wouldn't think there was any more room left.

Deez & Jay,

Those are very nice - great way to keep the potted guys neat and organized!  Wish I had a space like that - looks like a perfect spot where the palms can get the needed humidity, and are protected from the elements as well.

Thanks SunnyFl! Yes, when these tropical palms are smaller they need all they protection they can get. Plus, here they have the room they'll need to get bigger too!!

Still exactly the same here Dave except the palms are a bit taller and a bit more crowded.

Those fences in Perth look pretty nice.  Are they available in the US?
