Hello...I joined this forum to try and find a simple answer that I am needing. We are debating with the city as to whether or not we can plant our Queen Palms in the ground and they are looking for information on how deep and how wide Queen roots typically grow. If anyone can answer that for me I would be grateful. Thanks!

I'm sorry to say I don't have an answer that would satisfy the people you are answering to. I do recommend you try asking this question in the Discussing Palms section, as it gets the lion's share of activity. I guarantee you'll get a more robust discussion going there.

Melzod: sorry to state the obvious but the root spread will depend on the soil type and structure.

If the soil is well prepared to start with you should have no problems.

Avoid ALL fert on this and any palm in its first year.

Roots encouraged to work for themselves are all the better for it.

(P.S.) Whilst Im at it.

1) I AM grateful for all the organisation that went into Costa Rica . . .but

2) It would have been nice to visit a place with several stalls as in the DR rather than a single "tourist" shop.

Purely my personal feelings.
