Well done, Good container haul but might not be enough to get you into the container ranch club members bar.

Nice new guinea impatiens.

Happy Gardening

Shon, Your off to a great start with some very nice palms! As far as the container ranch club don't you have to let some weeds grow? And wheres your ranch hands ??? ? Pics please,Steve

Urban Rainforest Palms,Cycads and Exotics. Were in San Diego Ca. about 5 miles from the beach on Tecolote canyon. It seems to be an ideal growing climate with moderate temps. and very little frost. Vacation Rental in Leilani Estates, big island Hi PM me if interested in staying there.

Nice!  I'd say it's more of a container garden.  Ranch needs some tumble weeds in it to qualify.  I really like the look of that D. florencei.

Shon,

yes, that florencei is a beauty. And a fairly fast grower. And hopefully your 'orange crush' will grow up and show some nice color soon!

Hey Shon, nice D. florencei. I have two of these and I have had them for two years. I bought them as a 4" and one is doing way better than the other. I was wondering did you get it form Jungle Music and was it this year? I have heard that there are very few (if any) of these outside in California. I have mine in a cold greenhouse. I would like to keep them outside in the shade but I have heard that they are rather cold sensitive.  Thanks Mike

That's some exotic stuff, Shon...you're much braver than me.

If global warming means I can grow Cocos Nucifera, then bring it on....

Thanks for the compliments.Mike it is from JM but not purchased by me.A freind of mine got it as a 3 gal last year in the spring and put it underneath his canopy of palms in Cardiff. So now it has been through one full winter and is busting out of a 5gal.I'm going to wait one more winter then plant it in spring. My freind also has one in ground doing just fine.Your right though I don't see them around here very often. Steve I might be pushing a few things,I'm only going into my second year of growing but I got a pretty decent canopy and only six miles from the coast. That is part of the fun to in seeing what I can get away with.

My entry to try to qualify for the container ranch club.

Hey Shon!  Great Shots of your place!  As for the container "Ranch" or "Garden"....You are at a crucial point here.....You have made the right step for the ranch by putting your pots on the dirt....see, that hard ole concrete does a bang-up job keeping the weeds from growing it it!!! :)

If you want to maintain? a Ranch, you must fight the temptation to weed AROUND the pots....weeding inside the pots is fully acceptable, I do it all the time  :;):

But as Steve said, you'll have to get the Mrs. in the yard with a come hither smile to post your "Ranch Hands" pic!!!   :P :P

That Dypsis florencei is great.  I'm still hunting the net for seed, although it looks like I may have to fork out for shipping a plant.
