these seem awfully slow in so cal--mine are still working on opening 1 new leaf that started pushing in early spring!anyone else have the same experience?

They grow fast here once they reach groundwater with roots.  It s a bit far north to grow them here so I leave the skirts on hoping to provide slightly more cold ressistance.

The road from Belohorizonte to Diamintina has 7 species of Syagrus :

as well as Geonoma , Allagoptera, Butia archeri and Atalaya . Its a beautiful interesting area.
