Phil and Hugh are finally going to regale us on their experiences of the big Madagascar trip they were a part of. Remember they took off to the Seychelles as well. I refer to the big trip that included Doctor John Dransfield and Jeff Marcus etc. Love to see you there next Tuesday night at Mt Cootha BGs, and I hear Colin Wilson may be in town, so you better bring some extra Monte Carlos Mike and Andy.

BPACS have moved their meeting place from Mt Cootha to the CWA in Gregory Terrace. I finally got to a meeting the other week after being absent from meetings for about 12 months. I'd forgotten how much fun and great company these are. I took a few snaps. Michael gave a great slide show presentation on his recent visit to Vanuatu. With a bit of luck we might see it posted in part on this board sometime soon, here's hoping. Members gather and chat before the meeting begins. Take your seats Mike begins his great talk and slide show

This Sunday, the 24th of June at 10:00am...Palm Grove Nat'l Park, Mt Tamborine. We will be walking the trails through this lovely piece of rainforest and will see some great palms and other rainforest plants. Hopefully it won't rain too much! After our walk, we will then head down the mountain towards the Gold Coast and visit Bamboo Downunder nursery. They have a spectacular display garden with bamboo and some palms as well. Their nursery stocks some great plants that have all been hardened off to local conditions, and some are unusual species such as Physokentia insolita. The bamboos for sale are good too... Daryl

This Sunday, 24th October takes the society on a "palm extreme" garden outing to the private home gardens of two of the original Aussie ratpackers, Rob Meulet and Michael Green (fm:NEWCAL). These bad boys of the Gold Coast hinterland are sure to have some wonderful palms on display after the glorious palm loving weather of late. With a bit of luck, I'll get along myself and take my trusty camera with me, so look out for some interesting topics coming your way next week. If you're interested in coming along, be warned, the day is sure to be mind blowing. PM for details.
