A big WHOOP OF APPLAUSE for Palm Talker and new PSSC San Diego Chair @Josh-O for setting this up! And, our hosts, including @ellidro and @Matt in SDfor agreeing to share their gardening glory. The PSSC's September 16, 2023 meeting will be held at two gardens we've never been to before. This is going to be yin-yang and yang-yin; small and big, and too much and not enough. Two gardens, both full of wonderful palms, many of which I haven't seen in the ground in California before. At their peak in San Diego's glorious climate. Garden No. One: Nick Ordille, 1075 Guadajara Drive, Encinitas, CA 92024. The front yard has some very nice (A…

Howdyall: It's that time again, and we're having our meeting in Orange County, the OC at two adjacent cheek-by-jowl gardens. The Palm Society of Southern California will be holding its November, 2012 meeting at the homes of John Boyer and Guy Young. Please enter through John’s front door and continue straight through to the back yard. John decided in the mid-1990's, after a trip to Hawaii, that tropical landscape was what he wanted for his yard. In the meantime Guy, after visiting a palm specialist nursery, found a way to expand his …

You don’t have to live in Southern California. All you have to do is love palms. The Palm Society of Southern California is dedicated to the enjoyment, research, education and conservation of or about palms. Our Palm Journal is our jewel. We’ve been putting it out for almost 30 years, and it just keeps getting better and better. I don’t think we’re bragging, but just stating the obvious. Those of you who have received sets of Journals will know this to be true. We are the only journal of a…

El Hoagie had the journal ready the beginning of November - unfortunately, there are a lot of links in the chain with delays to boot... Some folks have already expressed concern with the accompanying renewal notice in effect stating This is the last journal you'll receive unless you renew; for the record, everyone who is already paid up through 2010 and beyond will continue receiving journals and newsletters (clearly). Hang on to the SASE, send me Easter greetings, or whatever. Spread the word. Over&out. P-zon

This year a duo of auctioneers, both members of the Palm Society, will provide an evening of excitement and entertainment as they present the rare and unusual -- along with other desirable tropical plants -- for bid. You'll encounter species from a wide array of families -- trees…
