Free Orange Geiger - Cordia sebestena - seeds
by Loxahatchee Adam- 12 replies
- 2.7k views
I have a bunch of Cordia sebestena (Orange Geiger) seeds that just ripened off the tree. They are the uncleaned fruits. Because of their size, shipping overseas will require a small box and will be in the $15 range and will need to be reimbursed. Shipping within US is free. Gathered Feb 2016. Send a PM if interested. I have a few in the ground in far western Loxahatchee. They have not been here for a true freeze yet, but have come through multiple nights in the 36-38ºF (2-3ºC) range the past few years with no problems. Frost has burnt the leaves when it's occurred, but no harm to the tree or branches themselves.

2 Free Dypsis Plumosa
by Josue Diaz- 0 replies
I have two 5gal Dypsis plumosa for someone with a warmer locale (Southern California). I have tested them in Fresno for 2 winters and although they survive, they take a beating. They will not be good long-term plants here. These two came from Darold (who i believe got them from someone in San Diego, so they've made their rounds throughout California already. They were struggling big time in chilly San Francisco. In Fresno, they love our summer but struggle in winter. These will do best, I think from LA southward in a frost free climate. Pick up only in Fresno, or we could arrange delivery in Southern CA. feel free to message me here.

I have some extra germinated Livistona chinensis seeds to give away. At least three seeds showing germination through the baggie (possibly more to come). These were personally sourced from a palm growing in Saint Petersburg, Florida over Christmas. I am willing to ship for free to the lower 48; just agree to give them a good home. PM me if interested (first come, first serve). Livistona chinensis can be finicky after germination, so no guarantees (although, they are free, so no risk either).

Centaurothamnus maximus cuttings
by quaman58- 1 reply
I was given this very rare flowering plant from Saudi Arabia about 3 years ago, & it just loves San Diego's climate. It's very hard to start from seed, but I need to reduce it's size. So if anyone would like to take a whack rooting some cuttings, they would be welcome to. Otherwise, they go in the recycling bin. Local pickup only. It's a very striking plant with pure white under the leaves & purple flowers that the bees love to wrestle with. PM me if interested.

Phoenix hybrid (reclinata x canariensis) x rupicola
by Josue Diaz- 1 follower
- 1.5k views
I have ripening seed of this hybrid - the seed parent is a hybrid of unknown parentage. I purchased it as Phoenix reclinata, but it is likely a hybrid of reclinata and canariensis, or dactylifera and canariensis. Either way, solitary with small but yummy fruit, and very rigid leaves. The pollen parent is a Phoenix rupicola from RPS seed. I hand pollinated the flowers, but it's also likely they could have received canariensis pollen from one of several mature canariensis or from a mature dactylifera on my block. Hey guys, I have eight Sabal Palmetto Seedlings which I got from eBay in April for $84. They are in ground but since they are very small and it rained heavily these days I can easily dig them out. The reason why I want to give them away is that I don't have space for them anymore. So, if you are in the Houston area just reply to this email and those seedlings will be yours. Of course that I will give them away for free but please hurry because I need to give them away soon.

Rhapis Excelsa - South Orange County

A friend of mine told me this beautiful clump of Rhapis excelsa is going to be removed by her HOA if someone else does not remove it first. I have seen it. I am planning on taking my shovel, a Sawzall, pruner, and some burlap sacks a week from Saturday and see what dent I can put in this thing to take back to the I.E. If anyone else has any interest in the rest of it and can remove it by hand the same day I'm there, I think they will appreciate it. Message me privately for South Orange County, CA location. I'll cross post this to IPS on Facebook. My friend does not want a crowd of people there. Just me and maybe another person or two.

Pseudophoenix Sargentii Seeds
by Johnny Palmseed- 13 replies
- 1.6k views
I had hoped to trade some seeds but I can’t seem to post on the trade section. I am looking for Arch. Cunninghamiana, Howea Forsteriana, Dictyosperma Album, Dypsis Leptocheilos, Cham. Macrocarpa. I will also be glad to send seeds for free in the continental US. Disclaimer - I have never attempted to germinate seeds from this plant. I have no idea how they will do. The mother is approximately 15-18 years old and has what I consider to be a wide base with a pronounced taper. It has shrugged off several category 2 and 3 hurricanes without losing a single frond. Thanks John

by Ben in Norcal- 4 replies
If anyone in NorCal wants A. cunninghamiana seeds, I have several fruiting plants at the minute - both "regular" and "Illawarra" varieties. At this stage, I'm just cutting them down and throwing them in the green waste. If you'd like to come by and harvest some, you are welcome to take as many as you like. Sorry, no shipping - local growers only please!
