Caryota no
by Chris Chance- 3 replies

I have this 15 gallon Caryota no. It's a little beat up but starting to grow well. I don't have room for it and probably won't do well in my area. If anyone is interested and can make a drive to Moreno Valley CA it's yours. I would like to see it in a good home and even had snow on it at one point so it deserves it.

Centaurothamnus maximus cuttings

I was given this very rare flowering plant from Saudi Arabia about 3 years ago, & it just loves San Diego's climate. It's very hard to start from seed, but I need to reduce it's size. So if anyone would like to take a whack rooting some cuttings, they would be welcome to. Otherwise, they go in the recycling bin. Local pickup only. It's a very striking plant with pure white under the leaves & purple flowers that the bees love to wrestle with. PM me if interested.

Howdyall: I have some Chamadorea radicalis seeds to give away, no charge. These are all from female tree-type plants, with pollen from nearby male bush-types. Hardy as sorrow, and persistent as the Reaper. Great pot plant, even in Alaska, etc. Please shoot me a PM, with the words "Chamadorea radicalis seeds" in the subject, plus your address in the message and I'll mail some to you. I'm going to wait a couple weeks to gauge interest, then send the seeds out in a couple of weeks or so. Best Dave

My loss is your gain, we are moving and I am not taking this palm with us and wanted to put it out there to see if anyone local may want it. This is probably about 15-20 years old and just got re-potted so that should help with the leaf tip burn as the previous pot had zero drainage holes. This is a big chamaedorea ernesti-augusti with a smaller volunteer in the same pot. Donations to our moving cause would not go unappreciated . Carl 760-639-9218

I've got a dozen or so Chamaedorea hooperiana seeds I want to give to a good home in Orange County, CA. Not willing to ship. Local pickup only. Germination is reportedly very easy with this species. Ideally have some rare palm seeds of your own to exchange but trade certainly not required. Thanks

Chamaedorea oreophila, (was C. monostachys)

This palm is considered the third most frost hardy, after C. radicalis and C. microspadix. Unfortunately in my very cool, humid microclimate the palm is afflicted by thrip. I gave away previous plants to a friend in a hot, inland area (Brentwood, CA) and the thrip problem went away, his palms are growing well. I purchased these three 1-gallon plants shown in the photograph as a second attempt to grow this species in my garden. They are mature, and two have flowerstalks. However they have been damaged by thrip also. I don't care to attempt to control the thrip with chemical pesticide so I offer them for free. The only condition is no shipping; you mus…

I got a bunch of seeds from DoomsDave in 2016 which turned into 22 seedlings of which I put 2 or 3 each in 8 bigger pots and have given them away to friends so that I now have 2 left. I'm keeping one myself. Anyone reading this forum can have the remaining one for free but you'd have to pay for shipping (or pick it up). No point asking if you're outside Europe, it'd bee too expensive to send. It's also more fun to have in Europe maybe since it isn't available anywhere in Europe as far as I have seen. Cheapest shipping I can find is PostNord for 122 SEK within Sweden and 351 SEK (~€35) to the European countries I checked (e g France, Germany, Denmark, Norway). Cold ha…

Chamaerops "NorCal Special"
by Darold Petty- 6 replies

Chamaerops humilis v. argentea (aka 'cerifera') I purchased this palm as a 5-gallon plant in 2005. It has a very nice blue color, and it holds the color even in a shady location and a very humid microclimate, I selected this palm from a few hundred of its siblings at a nursery on the east side of Fallbrook, CA. It is distinct in the leaflet form, and has two ranks of leaflets, one above the other. During a visit by Dr. Dransfield he remarked that this was a most unusual feature. The main stem is about 8 inches diameter and 16 inches tall. I have decided to remove this palm, as I planted it too close to the public sidewalk in front of my home. Eventual…
