Chamaerops "NorCal Special"
by Darold Petty- 6 replies

Chamaerops humilis v. argentea (aka 'cerifera') I purchased this palm as a 5-gallon plant in 2005. It has a very nice blue color, and it holds the color even in a shady location and a very humid microclimate, I selected this palm from a few hundred of its siblings at a nursery on the east side of Fallbrook, CA. It is distinct in the leaflet form, and has two ranks of leaflets, one above the other. During a visit by Dr. Dransfield he remarked that this was a most unusual feature. The main stem is about 8 inches diameter and 16 inches tall. I have decided to remove this palm, as I planted it too close to the public sidewalk in front of my home. Eventual…

Hello Palmtalkers, Keith got me thinking with his post... I Have a L. decora that has fruited and the seeds are ripe. This is the first year it has fruited and it's very exciting. The fruits are just starting to fall off the tree. I was curious if anyone wanted some? I have many. Send me a PM and leave a note here as well. I will cut the seeds down in a few days and dole them out. If you want to send a buck or two for postage, cool- but let me get them mailed out first, I have Paypal. If you don't want to send a buck or two no worries. Thanks.

The Arboretum has more than we can plant. These E. gratus are in 10" pots, some have a pup but most are single. This particular one has about an 8" caudex and a 3" pup. The fence is a 6 footer for scale. I have 10 of these so first come, first served, one to a customer.

Howdyall, it's that time again. The Chamadorea rads have been seeding and now they're available for all who want some. Free. Send me a Private Message (PM) with your address and I'll mail them, anywhere in the world. Please say "Free radicalis seed" or something like that in the subject line. If you've gotten seeds before, you can get more. This is to spread palm love. I'll wait a couple of weeks before sending out seed, to see how many want some. In years past, they've gone to Japan, Phillipines, Poland, Russia, England, Sweden, Croatia (expletive), France, and even (gasp!) Madagascar! As well as many places in the USA. This has been a popular giveaway, and why not? The …

7 Species - 35 Seeds
by Small palm- 1 reply
- 1.1k views
I currently have 7 different species of palm with a total of 35 seeds. I will list the species below with the quantity. I bought these seeds last spring (2016). I've been trying to sprout them over the last year, but I've had no luck. I know Palm seeds usually need bottom heat from a heating pad to sprout. Scarification can help them sprout too. I haven't tried bottom heat or scarification on these. The only reason I'm selling these is because I need to make room for some other seeds that I will be growing later this year. I don't have time or room to grow a large variety of plants. There's no guarantee they will sprout, but I gave them the water float test and they…

I have for a beginning 50 seeds of this Livistona to give away: http://www.palmpedia.net/wiki/Livistona_sp._%27konstantinosa%27 I can send only 10 seeds to each person, mainly because I am bound to mail only whole fruits, since cleaning off seeds has proven a very difficult and time costing task. So, if intersested, shoot a pm with your address.

A friend has grown his Pachypodium for 13 years and this is the first time it has produced seed pods. Knowing I am in touch with lots of plant enthusiasts, he wanted me to offer the seeds for free to any takers. Easiest to provide to US residents who will pay shipping. There are possibly 200 - 300 seeds. I have never grown the plant and know nothing about germination. The grower thought it was a palm, but now he knows better. Any takers?

Hi all, I have 5 plumeria seedlings that I have to give away due to lack of conditions at my place. Sown in January 2015 , they have up to 50cm of trunk. In case there will be anyone interested, I would ask you to cover shipping. Due to that, offer is rather limited to European growers. PM me if interested, would be nice to give them a happy, more sun oriented home Those are my first exotic plants, grown from seeds. Here's a sample of offered seedlings, sorry, never really was a photographer :))

First Roystonea Harvest
by Kumar- 12 replies
- 3.2k views
The first flowering of my roystonea regia took place in august last year and the fruits are now mature and falling like rain. I've collected a large handful and can send them off to anyone who is interested. The mother tree is a real rocket - 45 feet+ at the top of the crownshaft, planted as a three foot high seedling in March 2000. I know this is one of the commonest palms but just in case someone wants some genetic variation. Let me know.

Chamaedorea oreophila, (was C. monostachys)
by Darold Petty- 5 replies
This palm is considered the third most frost hardy, after C. radicalis and C. microspadix. Unfortunately in my very cool, humid microclimate the palm is afflicted by thrip. I gave away previous plants to a friend in a hot, inland area (Brentwood, CA) and the thrip problem went away, his palms are growing well. I purchased these three 1-gallon plants shown in the photograph as a second attempt to grow this species in my garden. They are mature, and two have flowerstalks. However they have been damaged by thrip also. I don't care to attempt to control the thrip with chemical pesticide so I offer them for free. The only condition is no shipping; you mus…

Hello all. I have some D lanceolata seeds that should be ripening up soon. These pictures are from the beginning of January. As you can see the seeds are still green and not ripe yet. When they are ripe, you are more than welcome to them. The only catch is that the tree is in Leilani Estates, Hawaii and I am not. So this is an offer for the local folks over there. Just send me a PM if you are interested and I will give you directions. Thanks.
