Rhopalostylis sapida "Chatham Island'
by Darold Petty- 4 replies

When I was a beginner, (a long time ago) senior palm people were most generous, with both their time and plants. Now it is my turn to 'play it forward.' This palm is the seed offspring of my large adult, it is perfectly grown in a Stuewe TP812 pot, it is six years old from seed, and needs to be ground planted. I would hope that this palm goes to a coastal garden rather than a hot, inland site like Walnut Creek or Concord. No shipping, you must come to my garden for this palm.

Dypsis Lastelliana Seeds

I just got a shipment of these and I don’t need them all. Supposedly there are 400 in the bag. Unfortunately, these arrived after I had already shipped many seeds and I don’t want to get involved with shipping a bunch more. I am looking for 1 person who would be willing to distribute the remaining seeds in the manner as I do. Which is free. Obviously, you would keep what you want and distribute the rest. PM me if this works for you.

Free Seeds September 2023 Batch

I have a limited supply of free seeds this year. My Pseudophoenix Sargentii are not yet ready but I currently have Thrinax Radiata that germinate easily under the palms. I also am offering my untested first batches of Copernicia Hospita and the palm formerly known as Dypsis Pembana. The viability of these two are unknown although they all sank in water. All seeds are cleaned of the fruit. PM me if you want some. These are free with no PayPal, Zelle, etc. All I ask is that you report back to me on your success or failure. The number of seeds that you will receive will be based on how many responses I get.

Full on mature specimen, I just don't have room for it Anybody interested will have to have some equip to pull it outta ground it's over ten ft tall. Let me reiterate, you dig it out... There's nothing important right there too so if you had a mini x and a bobcat to pop it out you'd have a specimen in a hours time

Air pots, no shipping
by Darold Petty- 5 replies

These were highly recommended, and are used by Kew Gardens. The only complaint is that the pot medium will dry out more quickly than a normal pot. I have five #5 and two #12 airpots, which cost me $140. No shipping, you must take delivery at my home, and a ' handling fee' of a microbrew dark ale or hazy IPA would be appreciated ! https://air-pot.com/garden/

Hey everyone. I am trying to get rid of a few palms as we go into winter. My wife says that they aren't coming back into the living room. I have a 3 year old coconut palm in a 25 gallon pot. Unfortunately the soil in the pot is lava sand so it is heavy! I also have 5 or 6 Adonidia merrillii in 3 gallon pots with normal potting soil. I also have many random small exotic palms in 1 gallon pots. Dypsis pembana, Dypsis lutescens, possibly a few others. These are neglected little palms but still hanging in there. Everything is free. I live in Angleton but can meet in Pearland, Crosby, and will be in Conroe next weekend. If interested let me know. If th…

What's out there?

Dunno if I'm allowed to ask this here, but long story short I did end up losing my car/apartment and had to come back to my mom's. I could only squeeze a few of my palms in the U-Haul, and my mom dropped one of my L. Weddellaniums and her cats basically gave a hurricane cut to my C. Plumosa. I know @DoomsDave is always good for seeds, but anybody else have any cuttings/seedlings/seeds for a good cause to replenish my collection? I'll take any and everything.

Free: Date Palm Tree Needs a New Home
by djb529- 0 replies
We have an established Date Palm tree that we inherited when we purchase our home. Unfortunately, the prior owner's placement didn't take into consideration decades of growth and we are needing to remove it. Rather than have it cut down, we are hoping someone might be able to repurpose. It's a beautiful tree, but just needs a better home. Free for the taking. Must dig out on your own. Please see attached photos. The tree is easily accessible via our front yard. We are located in Sacramento, CA. Thank you, Daniel Baker …

I have two like-size Royal Palms with about 14 ft of trunk, about 20 ft overall. They are healthy, were just planted in the wrong spot. They can easily be moved with a bobcat and a flatbed. Free to a good home, just dig up and transport.

Free Hura crepitans -Dynamite/Sandbox Tree- Seeds
by Loxahatchee Adam- 5 replies
- 2.8k views
I have some fresh Hura crepitans seeds available off my tree here. I've yet to hear any do their namesake dynamite pop though. The pods are all maturing on the tree and opening on their own. When I take the seeds out, they are soft/leathery shelled and white. No hard brown seed coat. I'm not sure if they will air dry to that or? They feel firm and fully formed inside though. I attached a pic (seeds laid out are from larger pod). I'm not sure if it's better to wait till they harden off first or send them fresh and soft. Anyone have any insight they can post here? Send a PM if interested.

Canna jaegeriana

The good news; I collected a high elevation form of this Canna in Ecuador in 1996. It grows very well here in San Francisco, a cool, humid USDA zone 10A. The stems are about 9 feet high, the foliage is reminiscent of Heliconia, hummingbirds are crazy for the flowers, it grows all 12 months of the year, every stem makes good seeds. The seeds are viable for a long time. I have a large crop of seeds. The bad news; The foliage is damaged by wind, similar to banana. The seeds are difficult to germinate, with a low percentage of success. I tried scarification but that just seemed to increase rotting. If you have a good technique share it with me! More good news; …

Wow, it's Easter evening, and I sit, gazing at a HUGE amount of Brahea hybrid seeds, needing a home, and love. Below is a picture of the parent. GORGEOUS, I think.(Pic below.) 10 M (30 feet) tall, 3.33 M (10 feet) across crown, about 2 - 3 feet (.6 - 1 M) across base of trunk (without leaf bases). This plant is awesome. I've sent many seed before, and I'll send many more again. These will take heat, cold, and more water than most Braheas. What is not to love? If you want seeds, FREE OF CHARGE send me a Private Message ("PM") with "Brahea seeds" in the topic, and your mailing address, and some seeds will be yours! Happy (no, ECSTATIC) palm growing!
