I encountered Netopalms on PalmTalk as I answer an ad for selling "orange crush" plans. Arranged to go to his residential nursery and saw beautiful plants, well maintained and cared for - the prices were better than reasonable. I strongly recommend exploring his inventory - he specializes in palms from Cuba.

Steve Sterns Rare Palms

I found Steve's site through an ad on the Daves Garden website. We exchanged e-mails regarding some plants that I never see for sale here on the west coast. (Acanthophoenix rubra, Gastrococos crispa). Steve ships small stuff up to one gallon. He told me he'd get me an invoice amount, & asked if I could then send him a check, at which time he'd ship the plants. I then get a call from him the following day saying "I didn't want the plants to get tangled up with the holiday mail, so I sent them out yesterday. So send me a check when you get them". A very trusting guy, I'm thinking. But trusting people tend to be trustworthy ones. The plants came in great shape the next d…

Jurassic Garden/A&A Cycads/Maurice Levin
by Ben in Norcal- 9 replies

Hi All, I take negative feedback very seriously, but I feel obligated to raise a flag regarding Jurassic Garden/A&A Cycads. There seem to be some significant issues over there at the minute. I put in an order on February 8th, 2015, and after many attempts to track down status, I finally received PART of my order on 3/21/15 (6 weeks later.) The order was incomplete, with items on the 2nd page excluded, and I am now attempting to track down status of the remainder. Also, I was not sent a promised "freebie" that was supposed to be a "thank you" for patience during the extraordinary shipping delay. I can't comment on this operation outside of this one order …

Bryant Brantley has some great deals on fields of Butia odorata palms. He has started venturing into other cold hardy palms as well. He gave me a great deal on a nice field dug trunking Trachyocarpus fortunei and threw in some extra potted palms as well. He was a genuinely nice guy who was a pleasure to do businesswith. He hand dug, wrapped, and tractor loaded my palm with a lot of expertise. ..almost no roots were cut in the process. He is located in Perry Florida on some nice farmland.

I got a package seized because of a missing phytosanitary certificate. US Customs destroyed the seeds and (by protocol) sent the USDA to inspect my nursery. Meanwhile, this company says they should not destroy the seeds and sends me a copy of the phytosantary certificate. I got in touch with Customs and they had destroyed them already. They refuse to either partial refund of my money, or send a reduced seeds with a phytosanitary. Be very aware of this company as I don't think they know how to ship to the USA and will not correct what is their fault.

EBAY SCAMMER ALERT
by NorthFlpalmguy- 2 replies
- 1.8k views
I know some of us sell palms/seeds on Ebay and other sites as well and needed to pass on this info. Be warned there is a scammer by the username "sellssword" and is trying to make sellers think their seeds are bad which in reality they are not and he won't return the seeds and demands a refund. It has now happened to several of us now and needs to be reported as I bet there are more of us. With the way Ebay is now ran it is completely one-sided and the vendors are at these scammer's mercy.

Jungle Music mail order

I dropped out of the bidding at the Darian meeting for a Dypsis, and soon afterward had a severe case of bidder's remorse. I telephoned Phil Bergman at 10:00 AM on Tuesday to inquire if he had this species. "Yes, and we can mail-order it to you" was the response. Phil sent me a Dypsis in the 5-gallon pot, not bare-rooted. The package arrived at my home on Thursday at 2:00 PM, just 52 hours after our conversation. The palm was in perfect condition and was exactly as he had described it. Thanks Phil !!!

I've been buying palms from Bluebell Nursery for a while now and I thought this is a good time to let out my secret...Some of the SoCal members know about Bluebell but many don't...Its been around for many years but is not mentioned much...Sorta like a secret spot...The selection of rare palms is limited, but what they do offer is large and cheap... Bluebell Nursery Is owned and operated by long time members of the PSSC and have very well grown palms...If you are in the market for a Rhopalostylis baueri, Rhopalostylis sapida or Dypsis baronii you must visit them to compare size and price...I'm confident you will get a larger plant for less money from Bluebell...They al…

I would like to share my unfortunate and provide a rating for this Middle man seller Randy Decker for other people to know what they get might get into when buying plants from him. Randy had trick me in buying a cycad that didn't turn out to be what it is when I trusted him with I gave my money to go pick-up it. He's not an accredited nursery or business, so it's your risk! -David
