I gathered pollen from three Phoenix spp (theophrasti, dactylifera, loureiroi), the pollen from theo is already stored in the freezer.

    • Mr. Coconut Palm  »  Ken Johnson

      Hi Ken,
Alex (empireo) in Melbourne Beach said I should get in touch with you.  He thinks you may be able to tell me if there is any official way to get sprouted coconut palms shipped to Texas despite the quarantine on them leaving Florida.  I hope there is a way to do it, since we have a lot more interest in growing them here in Corpus Christi and in the Rio Grande Valley.  Up to now, we have to depend on sprouting ones we collect off the beach that wash up from the Gulf Coast of Mexico, or getting a few shipped to us in the mail from people who are willing to box up a few and ship them to us.
I would like a reliable way to get Maypans, all 3 colors of Malayans, and pure Jamaican Talls (for their increased cold hardiness over the others).  I have a friend who has a nursery and landscaping company on Padre Island who thinks we could sell a pretty good amount of them, especially to clients on the island, where they can grown to maturity between bad winters.  if you could help me in this regard, I would appreciate it.
      Thanks,
      John Purcell
