Would you pay more for electricity?
by Zeeth- 25 replies
In real world applications of current technology, is is 100% possible to remove all of the carbon dioxide output of coal powerplants, along with the current process of scrubbing the exhaust of most pollutants, but it results in a 33% loss of the produced electricity, meaning that the plant would have to charge 33% more sustain current profit margins. So, if you were given this as an option from your electricity provider, would you take it? No comments, just voting.

Rocky the Swift 1 2

So now I'm the carer of a grounded Swift (not a raptor as I previously thought). I also learned that because of their wing span and short legs, they can't actually get airborne once on the ground. Rocky here, is about two weeks old, and came into my care 2 days ago, on the 30th July. He's not big enough to fly yet, weighing in yesterday at 28 grams. Being an insectivore, I was worried about how I could possibly feed him enough. Some websites swear you should never feed a Swift anything other than a gourmet-mix of flies and crickets. I will add these when I can catch them, but I found some food mix at a local pet shop which says it is for insectivores, even though it i…

You read about people being caught in airports with critters taped to them to smuggle them past customs, usually for the pet trade. Here's one species very unlikely to end up that way. The Asian Giant Hornet. Click on the link and check out the pictures. (I can't post them to this site, sorry.) http://behindthewall.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/10/03/20800024-china-struggles-to-control-spate-of-hornet-attacks-as-deaths-rise?lite Checking my undies right now . . . .

BS man's comment in response to another post, somewhat articulated my concerns about not participating in Facebook. I fear yet another time-wasting engine, to add to the others. . . . . While I am a member now, Ive not participated at all. The way the site changes all the time, and the battles over privacy settings make me nervous. Thoughts, anyone?
