   Seed ID, and I Ask for a Thousand Pardons

   I have an envelope of seeds addressed to me, written in what looks like to be a sharpie, in a 5 x 7 manilla envelope. After my address is says "Seeds, Cher!" It is postmarked from what looks like "Atlanta and DC, USPS 30304." It has no return address. I have had these for a while, so that is why my "thousand pardons" request. I am fixing to put them in a compot, but have no idea what they are. If you sent them please reply here or by PM so I will know what I am planting. Thanks, Keith

   We went to buy some natural honey we know is for sale on the side of the road down Glasshouse Mountain way and this time I took the camera for some palmified drive-by pics. Enjoy. Big Caryota Rednecks along the footpath Mighty silver Bismarkias Here's a pair of green Bizzies with a Washy at back This home has an interesting array of palms with a Roystonea, a Veitchia, Livistona decora and various Archontophoenix and of course Dypsis lutes. Archos look out to Mount Tibrogargan Finally something that always catches the eye, Carpies in fruit..

   Got this Dypsis a couple of years ago, stunted its growth I think, last year I stopped using granular in my potted plalms, but I repotted it a couple of months ago, and it's coming around nicely, two spears at once, has got to rare on a tillering Dypsis, Ed

    Hello. I am interested in knowing if the water of the turtles can be a nutricional supplement for palms. The turtles feed gammarus, which contains Ca, P, K, Na, Mg, Fe, Mn, Zn and others. There are 78l of water, and I would reuse. Regards.

    Brahea armata vs. sp. 'Super Silver'

    I realize this is probably a matter of personal taste, and there may be disagreement, but I'm wondering what people on this board think. I've seen a palm simply labelled Brahea sp. 'Super Silver', which may be a form of Brahea nitida (?). How does it look compared with B. armata? I really like the look of B. armata and may need to include this palm in future plans, but I wanted to look into other silver-/blue-leaved palms, too. Jason

    Yesterday I received 24 Dragonfly nymphs, this morning I found four skins at the rim of the artificial pond, where they had crawled out of there skin just like a spider does, I counted a few less in the water so I'm wondering if this could be one of the ones that molted, or what ever you call it, thanks, Ed

    over head watering???

    I understand that overhead watering can cause rot due to water collecting in the crown... why is this? most palms come from areas where they get rained on all the time so wouldnt it seem that this would be good for the palm? ive seen the damage this type of watering can do so i would never do it but im just wondering why this is...

    Floribunda Palms has these listed - and I googled it - and I am puzzled. None of the photos show any real variegation. The leaves are green, the stems are lighter green/golden in color - What gives ?

    Just how drought tolerant is Dypsis decaryi?

    I planted this Dypsis decaryi (and 5 others that got eaten by gophers) out by the road 3 years ago as 2 leaf seedlings, and they receive no irrigation whatsoever! This is not clay soil that holds moisture either. This is very dry, rocky conditions. They are amazing! I'm convinced that when planted in any normal yard that has irrigation to other plants nearby that they will thrive and most importantly won't rot out when they get large like I see happening often.

    These are my first palms I've ever owned, so I was hoping one of you experts could help ID the palm trees I recently bought. I was told they were King Palms (Archontophoenix Cunninghamiana) but now I'm not so sure because the fronds seem to be so spread apart and they seem to be skinny for their height (compared to king palms that are similar height on the internet).
